Backtagging: By all means! Feel free to poke me first, though--I'm not against it, I just don't want you to think I ignored you if I can't get to something, so it lets me check in. <3
Threadhopping: OMG, yes please, all the time, WHY AREN'T YOU ALREADY DOING IT XD
Fourthwalling: Go for it. He won't be fazed--he's Dream, the Prince of Stories, OF COURSE HE'S FICTIONAL IN UR WORLD. :p
Offensive subjects: To Dream? Malicious manipulation of all dreamers, betrayal, some insinuations that he has weaknesses or a need for personal relationships (but he's MUCh better about it!)...boy has issues. XD The mun? All forms of abuse, parental death, the winter holidays--but they're not necessarily off limits! Just talk to me first, and we can figger it out. <3
IC
Hugging this character: ...maybe? I wouldn't, but...might be good for him. Just don't expect one back.
Kissing this character: I'd telegraph it first.
Flirting with this character: Just be blunt about it. Morpheus doesn't exactly have a fully functional sense of humor. >.>
Fighting with this character: Feel free, but with what tiny amount of power he still has he is gonna come at you like a mack truck, baby. So...yeah. Do it. Now. O.O
Injuring this character: Go for it! Just ask first, so we can negotiate maximum pain and suffering.
Killing this character: See above. With extra negotiation, death's more srs bidness.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Feel free? But you won't get much. He's got a mortal body for the game, but he's an anthropomorphic personification of an idea. He doesn't really have...thoughts. You'd probably just fall into some sort of dream, 'cause he is dreams.
Anything else: Morpheus can walk in dreams--want him to make a cameo in yours? Comment here! We'll talk. Over coffee. No big whup. XD
Warnings: (Potentially triggering topics or anything else you feel you may need to warn for in regards to your character)

NAME: Morpheus {Dream of the Endless}
CANON: THE SANDMAN (Audible audio production, but please note that comic and audio drama are a hairsbreadth from identical, so comic canon will be used to fill in holes as needed.)
CANON POINT: Chapter 8 - The Sound Of Her Wings
AGE: It's in the name: endless.
HISTORY: Dream of the Endless.
PAST GAME MEMORIES: N/A
PERSONALITY: Though he is, in some respects, a divine being, Morpheus is by no means perfect or pure. He is flawed, imperfect as the humans of whom he is a part, and who are a part of him. He lacks a real sense of humor, meaning he has trouble recognizing jokes or sarcasm and can often come off as cold. He can be insensitive and self obsessed, unable and unwilling to see other viewpoints or forgive perceived sins. He is not incapable of love, but has a storied history of broken romances, and is shown, both directly and by implication, to be prone to harsh reactions when his relationships fail, yet endures anguish in their aftermath regardless of his role in the end of the affair.
Despite these flaws, however, Morpheus is not a malevolent or corrupt creature. Morpheus is the embodiment of story, imagination, and is dream, made manifest. He sees himself as a servant of humanity and all living things, and those living creatures that cross his path for any length of time he takes a fixed interest in. He is not a sensitive nor tender individual, but he does not forget a kindness and he does not abide by needless cruelty. This is one of the reasons there is enmity between himself and his sibling, Desire, who sees and treats humans more as playthings than anything—even those he is charged to execute, such as the dream vortex Rose Walker, he offers protection from harm, and makes an attempt to soften the blow of her impending death as best he can.
Much of these softer notes in his personality can be attributed to seventy years of imprisonment. Prior to his captivity, Morpheus was colder and far more blind to his flaws—prideful, vicious, and even petty. However, his time trapped by the sorcerer Roderick Burgess left him changed, more empathetic and finding himself yearning to atone for past sins. His imprisonment specifically influences his acts of kindness: his former lover, Calliope, he frees from her own long term captivity despite the enmity between them, and the pair part in peace, if not in friendship. He also better accepts criticism and wisdom from others, such as his elder sister, Death, who admonishes him for going into seclusion after he escapes and starts him on his path towards redemption. Later still, she admonishes him further about the pridefulness that led him to have his lover, the African queen Nada, condemned to Hell for spurning him. This advice he takes so closely to heart that he journeys to Hell to free her, and initiates Lucifer's retirement from his post as the Devil.
Because he is such an integral part of the human condition, and so flawed a being, Morpheus is also a very lonely individual. Through shattered love affairs and an eternity of ruling the Dreaming alone, he inevitably seeks companionship under the guise of a game by making the case for his sister to spare a mortal named Hob Gadling from her influence while Gadling claims he can avoid death by simply not submitting to it. Hundreds of years before he is taken prisoner, Dream meets Gadling every century to inquire as to his well being, and see if he is still content to continue living. When Gadling calls Dream out, claiming he is lonely and that Gadling is his friend, Dream's fury is palpable, and the meeting ends abruptly—however, after he is freed, Dream keeps his centennial appointment with the man. Upon their reunion, Hob confesses he did not believe Dream would show, and Dream, quite genially for him, points out that it would be rude to leave one's friend waiting.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
Personification of Dreams: As one of the seven Endless, inconceivably powerful beings, Dream is both the lord and personification of all dreams and stories, and all that is not in reality (which, in turn, Dream may define by his existence). He possesses absolute control over sleep, dreams, nightmares, and even insomnia.
Cosmic Awareness: As guardian and ruler of the Dreaming, Morpheus has access to all stories ever told. Dream effectively knows almost everything, including how the Omniverse was created and the stories yet to be told. (NERFED: Dream will retain his knowledge of nearly all stories, but his knowledge will be limited to his own universe--and even that knowledge will be somewhat limited.)
Dimensional Travel: Dream can open portals to other dimensions at will. He can travel instantly to the Dreaming, and anywhere in the mortal realm that people dream. He can easily enter and transit most magical realms as well, such as Hell. (NERFED: While Dream will be able to enter the dreams of others, and traverse the Dreaming that way, he will be confined by a barrier he cannot penetrate. He cannot escape beyond the boundaries of the dreams of his fellow Favored, nor can he communicate with anyone in his service while he is in them.)
Dream Conjuring: He is capable of summoning dreams, stories, and ideas and send them into the minds of others. He was able to curse a man with "eternal waking", causing him to become trapped in an endless loop of awaking from a nightmare. (NERFED: He will be able to manipulate the dreams of his fellow Favored, but not create dreams outright without their aid, in their sleep.)
Dreaming Reality Warping: Dream's power is directly connected to the Dreaming. Inside the Dreaming, he can effortlessly alter reality on a universal scale. He can create objects and entities to follow his every command. The Dreams landscape and weather can also change simply but his current mood, and he also controls all the dreams within it. His 70 year absence from the Dreaming had a caused the realm to decay. As Dream grew weak while he was imprisoned, the Dreaming did the same. (NERFED: Dream will have no access to his realm outside the dreams of his fellow Favored, and he can only cause subtle manipulation without permission/help of the dreamer.)
Energy Absorption: Dream literally obtain nutrition from dreams. (NERFED: He will draw nourishment from dreams, but still be aggravated by the cravings of a human form--he doesn't need food and drink while awake per se, but will be uncomfortable physically until he slakes thirst or satisfies hunger, in an effort to make him socialize.)
Healing: Morpheus can heal wounds with the touch of his hand. (NERFED)
Illusion Casting: Dream can conjure illusions at will. His illusions are real enough to the point where they can be physically interacted with by other beings, as dreams and reality are far closer to one another than most realize. This also includes nightmares sent as a punishment. (NERFED)
Immortality: As the personification of all dreams in the universe, Dream was both ageless and immortal. He will continue to exist so long as one sentient being is capable of dreaming. Being an Endless, Dream can only be hurt by means that he allows. Besides, if an Endless is destroyed, its personality and powers are instantly transmitted to another person, who must become the new embodiment of that aspect. (NERFED: Dream will have a human form while he is in game, and subject to basically all of the weaknesses of such. He can be hurt and killed, and will appear slightly more human most of the time.)
Magic: Dream is a powerful magic-user; in the Dreaming his magic has Nigh-Omnipotent levels. (NERFED)
Metamorphosis: Morpheus could completely alter his physical appearance in order to appear to lesser beings in a guise that they could comprehend. He could also create clothing from "dream-space". (NERFED: He will be capable of using very small glamours, to account for the RL PB I will be using for him.)
Photokinesis: Dream is capable of creating light at will. (NERFED: This will be limited to the occasional orb of light in lieu of a flashlight, along those lines.)
Power Distribution: Dream was capable of imbuing some of his power into his equipment, including his Sand Pouch and his Dreamstone. (NERFED)
Telekinesis: Dream can manipulate the movement of objects through his own will. He was able to telekinetically unlock and open a door with the snap of his fingers. (NERFED)
Size Alteration (NERFED)
Superhuman Reflexes (NERFED)
Superhuman Stamina: Dream was able to go 70 years without food, and only became slightly weak. (NERFED)
Superhuman Strength: Dream is much stronger than any ordinary human. He was able to effortlessly hurl a demon guard a great distance, with one arm. (NERFED: Dream is slightly stronger than a very large human man--unnaturally strong for someone of his slight build, but not inhumanly strong.)
Teleportation (NERFED)
SAMPLES:
1st Sample:
I walk these streets, wrapped in flesh and sinew instead of moonlight and darkness. I am clothed in the meat of mortality, not skin of imagination and muscle of fear and ecstasy. I see the world through eyes of slick jelly and not the living mind.
For the second time in a century, I am a prisoner--and of those I once called allies. Nay...friends. Once, the idea of such weakness would have infuriated me, did send me into a rage nearly a hundred years before.
No longer.
I am a prisoner of flesh, a cell far smaller than the one I called home for seventy years, so small that the wider world I now occupy can hardly count for a thing. I was alone in my crystal bubble, but here I walk among others, human and creature alike. All of them, prisoners...all of them, for the first time ever, exactly like me.
In my isolation, I have learned. From the older and wiser tongue of my sister, I have learned. From pain, and from darkness, and from my suffering...I have learned.
I am a prisoner. We all are. I am a product of their lives, their imaginations...they birthed me. They are me, and I am them.
I am Dream, of the Endless. They are the dreamers.
Still waiting.
2nd Sample:
In the streets of the little faerie city, a man walks, bleeding rage.
He is tall, and he is thin, with a shock of black hair made darker against skin as white as bleached bone. His eyes are dark pits, the only sign of life in them the glittering of twin starts at their center. His stride is long and measured, and his silence, when spoken to, is deafening.
He has many names, but most often he is Morpheus--Dream, of the Endless--and for the second time in seventy years, he is a prisoner.
A month. Four short weeks of freedom and power, and now the fae have the unmitigated gall to make a prisoner of him for sport, for entertainment. He, who was already ancient long before the courts ever came into being, he who made the dreams of the sidhe and mortals alike...
He, who had shown them respect for their hospitality. Now, they make a prisoner of him...but angered as he is, it is all right.
He spent seventy years in a lead crystal chamber. Here, he has a world in which to move.
He was bound for seventy years. Here, he has been allowed to keep a modicum of his strength--and while he is not allowed his tools, his ruby is now forever a part of him.
He is experienced at being a prisoner--and he is experienced at escaping. All it takes is...
"...patience."
ANYTHING ELSE? Just an advance apology for all the brooding that's about to happen. :P
